bump

A BUMP Session is about creating artistic photographs. You don’t need any experience in front of the camera. I’ll guide you through the session - with attention, sensitivity and a clear vision for the images.

BUMP is personal and intimate, so I take my time. Beforehand, we’ll meet for a conversation, get to know each other and talk about anything that matters to you.

In the studio, I bring body, materials, colours, forms and light together in different compositions. The result is my artistic take on pregnancy - and really beautiful images of you and your bump.

Q&A

What happens during a BUMP Session?

Before your session, we’ll have a conversation to get to know each other. We’ll talk about what to expect, what matters to you and what you feel comfortable with. The session itself takes around 2–3 hours and takes place at my studio at Kunsthaus Essen. I’ll guide you through my process, bringing body, material, colour and light together in different compositions.

How should I prepare for the session?

You don’t really need to. There’s no need to bring any ideas, poses or specific expectations. BUMP is about trusting my perspective and the way I work.

What should I bring?

Not much. Wear something you feel comfortable in and bring a selection of simple underwear. If there are clothes you especially like wearing, feel free to bring those too. Oversized shirts in your favourite colours work particularly well, for example. Materials, fabrics and everything I need for the compositions are already at the studio.

How much skin do I show?

That’s entirely up to you. Your body can be clothed, partially visible or nude in the photographs. You decide how much you want to show. Within that framework, I take care of the artistic direction.

What if I have no experience in front of the camera?

That’s absolutely fine. With BUMP, you don’t need to know how to pose or what to do in front of the camera. I’ll guide you through the session and give you all the direction you need.

When is the right time for a BUMP Session?

There’s no specific stage of pregnancy when BUMP needs to take place. Your bump should be visible, and you should still feel comfortable spending a few hours at the studio. If you’re unsure about the right time for you, feel free to get in touch.

What happens to my images?

You’ll receive your curated digital image series personally on a USB stick - without an online gallery or download link. This way, the images stay with you first. BUMP is part of my artistic practice. There may be individual photographs I’d like to share beyond the session - on my website, in publications or exhibitions. We’ll decide together if and which images those are. Of course, only with your consent and completely independent of your booking.
